Product Care
Louis Abel jewelry is highly well crafted and can be enjoyed for generations if cared for properly. Below are some practices we recommend for keeping your jewelry in pristine condition.

Regular Cleaning
Louis Abel pieces are crafted to develop character over time. To maintain their finish, use a soft, lint-free cotton cloth for occasional polishing. Avoid paper towels or tissues, as they may scratch the surface.
For pieces that need a more thorough cleaning, use a clean cotton cloth and mild dish detergent mixed with water. Apply the diluted dish detergent to the clean cloth and rub the piece in one direction.
For heavily tarnished pieces, a silver polish can be effective. If even more thorough cleaning is required, an authorized jeweler can clean your pieces to restore them to a like-new condition.
Proper Storage
Separate your jewelry when storing to avoid scratches. Store your pieces in a cool, dry, closed area where they aren’t exposed to any chemicals, water, makeup, or perfume. Ensure they are separated to prevent scratching.
Wearing your jewelry
Wearing your silver jewelry often can prevent the silver from tarnishing, so we recommend that you enjoy and wear your jewelry every day. Avoid excessive contact with water and put on your jewelry after apply makeup, lotion, and perfume since they can cause them to tarnish.
Regular Cleaning
Louis Abel gold vermeil pieces are designed to develop character over time. To maintain their finish, gently polish using a soft, lint-free cotton cloth. Avoid paper towels or tissues, as they may scratch the surface.
We recommend avoiding water and soap when cleaning gold vermeil, as this can accelerate wear of the plating. For pieces that are heavily tarnished, or where the plating has worn down, we suggest consulting your local jeweler or contacting customer@louis-abel.com

Wearing your jewelry
Moisture and chemicals can cause metals to tarnish, so we recommend putting on your necklaces after applying makeup, perfume, and lotions, allowing them to dry completely. Remove them when showering, swimming, sleeping, and exercising. If your pieces come in contact with water, make sure to dry them completely.
For both solid sterling silver and gold vermeil rings, we recommend avoiding contact with liquids, as they can cause tarnishing and the gold plating to wear off. Please remove rings when engaging in activities where they may be subject to impact, such as manual work or sports, as this can damage them.
As with all pieces of jewelry, we advise handling earrings with care. Avoid applying too much pressure when putting them on and ensure that they are straight to prevent bending the posts. We recommend storing your earrings in dedicated compartments or separate pouches to prevent scratches and reduce the risk of bending the posts. Additionally, avoid placing earrings face down on rough surfaces to prevent scratches.
Louis Abel bracelets can be adjusted slightly in size by tightening or loosening the bracelets carefully. However, make sure to only do this once, as it might break if done frequently. Instead of bending your bracelet to take it on/off we recommend sliding it on/off the thinnest part of your wrist.
Necklaces are less prone to damage than other pieces of jewelry as they are not as exposed. However, it is still important to handle them with care. Moisture and chemicals can cause metals to tarnish, so we recommend putting on your necklaces after applying perfume and lotions, allowing them to dry completely.
To keep your 18K gold jewellery looking its best, rinse it gently with lukewarm water and a soft cloth after wear. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, and chlorine, as these can dull the surface over time. Store each piece separately to prevent scratching. With the right care, your gold jewellery will retain its warmth and lustre for years to come.
Clean diamond pieces using a very soft brush with lukewarm soapy water, rinse thoroughly with warm water, and dry with a soft cloth. We recommend having the diamond professionally cleaned and setting professionally checked once a year.
